Our new Reactive Glaze is an exciting addition of unique finishes to the Hokan range that will give extra pizzazz to using Hokan Bowls. The reactive process involves applying Natures very own chemicals and minerals to the base coat surface and the when fired the reaction results in a spontaneous and glorious organic finish. The results are beautiful and individual, and although the sets together are of the same colours, each bowl and lid goes through its own chemical reaction, gaining its own unique finish.

After moulding the stoneware clay into the bowls and lids they are then given a base glaze coat and then fired covered with calcium carbonate to encourage bubbling during the melting process, forming bubbles and fissures that reveal the texture and colour of the underlying glaze.
